DuoDay Connect project is a collaborative initiative between Finland, Sweden, and Lithuania, aimed at developing and strengthening the visibility and impact of Job Shadow Day. The project’s study visits share knowledge about effective practices in different countries and seek to develop new approaches to support the Job Shadow initiative. In November, the group met in Sweden.

This week, a workshop and study visit was held in Stockholm as part of the Nordplus project DUOday Connect, together with partner organizations from Finland and Lithuania. Annette Holmblad and Gustav Richert arranged the day, which focused on how we in the Nordic and Baltic countries work with job shadowing as a path to working life.

Study visit in Stockholm

The program included visits to: Läkarmissionen, Care driver training (Omsorgsförarutbildning) in Kista, Nytida, MISA

How Iris works with DUO-day

At the Care Driver Training, we use DUO days twice during the training:

  • Two days at the end – when the participants have more knowledge and can deepen their questions.
  • One day at the beginning – to provide a first insight into the professional role.

Our partners Samtrans and Inclusion Services contribute to providing participants with employment after the training. Our participants talked about the benefits of job shadowing both at the beginning and end of the training. The delegation from Finland and Lithuania highlighted our approach as both clear and inspiring. In addition to the Care Driver Training, Duoday is used according to the Supported Employment method as a tool to increase understanding of different professions among participants in several labor market initiatives via Iris, e.g. Step to Work (STA), Rusta Matcha (ROM).

Exchange of experience and joint development. The visit to Stockholm was an important step for the project and at the same time a confirmation that our working methods are attracting interest in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

It is clear that we all use job shadowing in different ways – but the goal is the same: to create paths to working life in an inclusive and sustainable way,” says Annette Holmblad.

The project will continue in spring 2026 with a visit to Finland and digital knowledge sharing sessions open to more interested parties. Many thanks to Gustav and Annette for a great arrangement!
